The D38999 Series I connector is a circular, high-density bayonet style with shell sizes ranging from 9 to 25 with over 50 QPL approved insert arrangements available. It was designed for high-performance requirements for military and aerospace cable to panel applications. Other applications can include marine and communication equipment, medical instrumentation, weapon systems, armored carriers and tanks and test equipment.
The shell material is an aluminum alloy, with plating options ranging from black zinc nickel (Z), olive green cadmium (B), Nickel (F), and green zinc cobalt (ZC), all conductive finishes that provide electrical continuity between the mated shells prior to contact engagement.
Shell types include square flange receptacle, inline receptacle, short square flange receptacle (not accepting a backshell), square flange receptacle for rear mounting, plug with RFI shielding, jam nut receptacle and plug with RFI shielding (not accepting a backshell).
D38999 Series I includes rear release, removable pin or socket contacts with crimp termination (AS39029). Thermocouple contacts are also available, as well as PC tail contacts as a commercial option. It is a high-density connector, with insert arrangement’s accommodating up to 128 pins with contact sizes ranging from a large size 4 to the smallest size 26. The series is designed to assure proper orientation of the mating halves prior to electrical engagement, and it includes EMI shielding capability. Hermetically sealed options are also available.
