MIL-DTL-26482 Series I is a quick-disconnect circular connector with a bayonet coupling designed to ensure reliable electrical connections in aircraft. The lightweight and compact size makes the 26482 style connector suitable not just for military and aerospace applications but also industrial and telecommunications applications that require a connector that can hold up in harsh environments.
The shell material is an aluminum alloy with plating options of olive green cadmium, black anodized, white cadmium, satin finish (bright nickel) zinc cobalt (olive green), and zinc nickel. The insulators are molded from elastomer and bonded into the shell in the value-added assembly process. Shell sizes range from 8 to 24, with available shell types including square flange receptacle (with options to accept and not accept backshells), cable connecting receptacle, jam nut receptacle (with options to accept and not accept backshells), plugs (with options for use with straight and 90° backshells). Hermetically sealed options are also available. Contacts are solder or front release crimp removable style, made from a copper alloy and have gold over nickel plating. Options range from solder, crimp, and wire wrap and PC tail as commercial versions.
